29th Annual Nita Elder Student Scholarship Exhibition

General Information:
This competition is open to high school seniors in grade 12 from Suffolk County, New York. Each school may submit up to a maximum of three pieces, one piece per student.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Entries must be original in concept and execution, created within three years.
​
THIS IS A FINE ARTS EXHIBITION, NO GICLEE, PRINTS OR CRAFTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. ORIGINAL WORK ONLY.

Works MUST be suitably framed and wired for hanging, no “saw-tooth” hanger or similar hanging devices will be accepted. D-rings and wire preferred. Artwork must be framed unless presented on “gallery wrapped” wired canvas or on metal wired for hanging. NO WET WORKS. All work must be clearly labeled with the artist’s name, title, size, and medium.
A program will be created for the exhibit using the information you submit upon entry. Once submitted, no changes will be accepted - NO EXCEPTIONS.
No art can be removed from the exhibit before the pick-up date and time.
CATEGORIES:
- Artwork/Brushworks- includes oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, mixed media.
- Artwork/NonPainting I- Includes drawing, pastels, colored pencil, pen, ink.
- Artwork/NonPainting II- Includes printmaking, collage, mixed media and photography.
- 3D Artwork: Includes ceramic, sculpture, glass, wood, mixed media, and assemblage.
DIMENSIONS:
2-D Artworks: Artists work may not exceed 30” x 40”(including the frame)
Sculpture: If the base of a sculpture exceeds 12” x 12” and requires a pedestal, the artist must request a base to be provided for the exhibition. Sculpture size can not exceed 18" x 36" x 18". SBAA will not have equiptment to move work into the community center. The artist must provide equiptment to move the sculpture into place. Bellport Community Center has a ramp on the east side of the building that can be accessed.
SBAA reserves the right to refuse any work due to space limitations, poor framing or as deemed unacceptable for any reason by the Receiving Committee.
JUDGING:
Ribbons will be awarded for First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention for each category. Three awards will be presented with a ribbon for Best in Show, a Certificate of Award and a $1,000 scholarship for outstanding achievement.
SALES: Artwork is not permitted to be sold at the Bellport Community Center.

Deadline: FRIDAY, February 21, 2025
Drop off: FRIDAY, February 28, 2025 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Exhibition dates: SATURDAY, March 1, 2025 10a.m. to 8 p.m.
SUNDAY, March 2, 2025 10 a.m.-1p.m.
ARTIST RECEPTION: SATURDAY, March 1, 2025 6-8 p.m.
Pick up: SUNDAY, March 2, 2025: 1 p.m.
