From cozy sweaters and colorful leaves to neighborhood coffee shops, pumpkin patches, and cherished seasonal traditions, we invite artists to share their own interpretation of “Sweater Weather”.

Call for Art: Big Works

The highly anticipated Big Works exhibition is back for its 3rd year at the BAFFA Art Gallery! Join the South Bay Art Association in Sayville to celebrate the bold, large-scale works created by our incredibly talented members.

This is an opportunity to show your larger work in an art gallery setting! As the theme is Big Works, 

we will only accept pieces over 20” x 20”.  Space is limited, so please consider entering your completed work soon to guarantee your spot before we reach our maximum capacity.

Call for Art: Plein Air

Plein air (from French for "open air") is the practice of painting finished artwork outdoors.

South Bay Art Association’s Plein Air exhibition celebrates member artists and the artwork they painted in the open air during our 6th Annual Plein Air Event from July 11th through July 23rd, 2026.

This exhibition will be held in the art gallery at the Brewport Café within Sachem Public Library in Holbrook. Due to the nature of our shared public satellite gallery spaces, all artwork is subject to final approval by the Exhibitions Committee to ensure an appropriate fit for the venue.

Inspired by Robert Frost’s poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, this exhibition explores the beauty, stillness, and mystery of winter woodlands, inviting a dialogue between visual art and the written word.

Artists are invited to submit works inspired by wooded landscapes, forests, snowy scenes, and the quiet atmosphere of winter. Works may be realistic, abstract, or imaginative, capturing not only the natural world, but also the emotion, mood, and reflective spirit found within Frost’s poem. This exhibition celebrates winter beyond the holidays, focusing on the landscapes, feelings, and natural beauty of the winter season. 

Open to all mediums. This is a juried exhibition by the South Bay Art Association (SBAA). Artists will be notified by SBAA if their work has been accepted.

Calling all South Bay Art Association artists! Back by popular demand, the SBAA is hosting our 2nd annual The Gift of Art exhibition at Brewport Coffee House in Bellport.  Give the gift of art this season! This show has no specific theme other than creating pieces people will love to give and receive. This open-theme exhibition celebrates art as a meaningful, giftable experience. While it runs through the holiday season, seasonal or holiday-themed artwork is optional.

To give more artists the opportunity to participate in this special exhibition, we have adjusted the size requirements. The maximum size for overall framed artwork is now 14” x 14” - measured from the outside of the frame.

Open to all mediums. This is a juried exhibition by the South Bay Art Association (SBAA). Artists will be notified by SBAA if their work has been accepted.

SBAA invites 10 artists to participate in Merry Little Works, a new holiday art fundraiser benefiting the Nita Elder Scholarship Fund, which helps support young artists as they pursue their educational goals.

Each participating artist will receive an 8" × 8" wooden panel to create an original work inspired by the holiday and winter season to be exhibited at Brewport Coffee House in Bellport Village. Think candy canes, snowflakes, holiday traditions, winter magic, and festive cheer! Artists are encouraged to interpret Merry Little Works in their own way and bring their one-of-a-kind piece to life with a little festive magic. All mediums are welcome!

Due to the shared nature of our gallery space, all artwork must be family-friendly and appropriate for this scholarship fundraiser. All artwork is subject to final approval by the Exhibitions Committee to ensure an appropriate fit for the venue.
