Through both her artwork and her leadership within the arts community, Laurie continues to contribute to the cultural fabric of the Long Island art scene.

Artist Statement

Photography is Lorraine Fosmire’s primary creative language, offering her a way to preserve fleeting moments of beauty found in both the built and natural world. With a particular passion for architectural subjects, she is drawn to structure, symmetry, texture, and the quiet stories held within historic facades and everyday spaces. Through her lens, buildings become more than structures — they become portraits of time and place.

Laurie is equally inspired by the softness of landscapes and the delicate details of florals, capturing contrast between organic forms and man-made design. Her work often reflects a thoughtful balance between observation and interpretation.

In addition to photography, Laurie explores collage as an extension of her visual storytelling — layering imagery, memory, and composition to create new narratives from existing fragments. Across all mediums, her work celebrates preservation, perspective, and the art of truly seeing what surrounds us
