Artist Statement
In the environments I photograph, whether it's an abandoned hospital or simply my kitchen floor, each location serves as a canvas for my creative expression. It is within these environments that I confront the shadows within me and transform them into stories of resilience and empowerment in front of my camera. The interplay of light and dark I capture in these settings is not just a visual technique, but a metaphor for my journey through life's complexities. Through this process, I can be vulnerable and weave a narrative that speaks to the universality of the human experience, inviting viewers to face their own demons and find beauty in the unexpected.
As I reflect on my battles with confidence, pain, grief, and loss, I create self-portraits and focus on intricate details in my images to share pieces of my story. Throughout my artistic journey, I intentionally incorporate unconventional elements that provide solace, inspiration, and comfort, allowing me to express the deep emotions that have weighed on me. By blending symbolism and realism, I invite viewers to look beyond the discomfort, uncover the beauty, and discover their own stories within my work.
